About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Software Engineer Trainee (Roku) to join our engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for freshers or early-career professionals who are passionate about OTT platforms and smart TV application development. You will work closely with experienced developers to build and enhance Roku applications while gaining hands-on exposure to real-world projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing, testing, and maintaining Roku applications
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code under guidance
- Debug issues and fix bugs in existing applications
- Collaborate with senior developers, QA, and product teams
- Participate in code reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and development practices
Key Skills Required
- Basic understanding of programming concepts (knowledge of BrightScript is a plus)
- Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms
- Familiarity with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and basic frameworks
- Good problem-solving and logical thinking ability
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment
Good to Have (Roku / OTT Tech)
- Basic understanding of the Roku platform and Smart TV ecosystems
- Familiarity with BrightScript and SceneGraph framework
- Knowledge of OTT/video streaming concepts (HLS, DASH, adaptive bitrate streaming)
- Understanding of video players and ad integrations (VAST, SSAI basics)
- Exposure to Roku Developer tools and debugging techniques
- Familiarity with REST APIs and JSON-based integrations
- Awareness of performance optimization for TV devices
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field
- Strong academic background (preferred but not mandatory)
- Internship or project experience in software development is a plus
- Basic understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
